naji - do you

If you're unfamiliar with Naji, now's the time to get acquainted with the American songwriter, producer, vocalist, and visual artist. Despite having a vast array of talents, Naji is most well known for bringing a smooth element of soul to his music, spreading his buttery voice over the clean and groovy production of mellow beats. His talents have not gone unnoticed, having worked with the likes of artists such as Monte Booker from Soulection and Krs. from Film Noir Sound. Today, he shares a new single titled "Do You", giving us a preview of his upcoming project, The Optimist, set to drop on June 23rd. The single features solo work from Naji across the board, with him on the songwriting, vocals, production, and engineering of this track.

billie eilish - bellyache (marian hill remix)

Marian Hill, an American songwriting duo consisting of producer Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol, has always been known for creating smooth R&B tracks with electronic influences. Their latest track features a remix of 15-year-old singer/songwriter Billie Eilish on the the track "Bellyache", a song exploring the mind of a psychopath and touching on the emotions of regret and loneliness. While the subject of the song remains dark, the Marian Hill rendition adds components of groove, with a punchy bassline and succinct percussive elements combining with well-placed vocal chops to create a more upbeat and danceable version of the original song.  Feel free to also check out "Down" by Marian Hill, another track displaying the power of simple, yet clean production mixed with absolutely stunning vocals.

sza - love galore (feat. travis scott)

Following the release of Kendrick Lamar's Damn, Top Dawg Entertainment returns for another smooth R&B single by resident diva SZA, featuring a guest verse from Travis Scott. Produced by Carter Lang and THANKGOD4CODY, the mellow trap beat provides the perfect balance SZA's silky voice. The lyrics of the song are in line with the song title, as SZA asserts her feminine power through bringing an infatuation among many men despite her lack of loyalty. Travis Scott fits well as a guest feature as his characteristic auto-tune rapping melds with the melodic nature of the song. Over all things though, the magic of SZA's voice got me hooked on the song with the amount of soul and emotion she brings to her music. Stay tuned for her debut album CTRL, which explores the themes of love, heartbreak, and revenge.
